Hyundai Alcazar : At a glance.


Hyundai Creta has been a blockbuster success for Hyundai India all along, but now Hyundai has applied the “more is better” theory to the New Alcazar, giving it more of everything than the Creta and even the competition.

The New Alcazar is just not an extended Creta. Hyundai has made sure that it offers more. The front resembles the Creta, but there are subtle changes in the use of premium materials and in the premium finish.

The Alcazar is taller and longer than the Creta. While the width remains the same, Hyundai has lengthened the wheelbase, freeing up a lot of space inside. The rear of the Alcazar is completely new and doesn’t feel like a half-hearted design job. When viewed from the side, the Alcazar looks big and substantial, which will go well with the buyers.

The Alcazar’s interior resembles the Creta, but Hyundai has added much more tech inside and a dash of colour with a dual tone dashboard in brown and black combination. The front seats are comfortable, especially with the seat ventilation.

The driver gets a fully digital instrument console, with themes and a well implemented blind spot camera display inside. The Alcazar offers a 360-degree camera view with a high resolution camera output, unlike many cars that offer really bad camera quality.


The six-seater variant comes with captain seats in the centre row, and a very purposeful centre console between the captain seats. This console does not just serve as an arm rest but offers wireless charging support and storage space for a lot of things.

The middle seats offer a one touch tilt and roll feature to get into the third row. The third row is a bit cramped for six footers, but for others it is comfortable, especially with the USB charging sockets, independent AC vents with controls, cup and phone holders and reclining seats.





The Alcazar gets a full bouquet of petrol, diesel engines and manual and automatic transmissions. The petrol variant is a 2.0 L naturally aspirated unit, an updated version of the Hyundai Elantra and Tucson motor.

This 2.0 L unit offers a very linear power delivery, making it easier to drive both in a city and on highways. At 159 hp it has plenty of grunt when required. The ride quality of the Alcazar is quite an improvement over the Creta. The Alcazar rides over bumps and potholes like a big SUV, and a lot less is felt inside the cabin. The Fit in finish levels are very good as well. The Alcazar fills in a gap in the Hyundai SUV line-up and fits in between the Creta and the Tucson. In terms of price and feature set, the Alcazar undercuts its rivals and even if you don’t need three rows that extra space allows more flexibility.

With the large panoramic roof, comfortable six to seven seater options, endless tech features that will keep you busy, the excellent Bose audio system, an air purifier and a full range of choices of petrol/diesel engines with manual and automatic options, you can see that the Hyundai is giving much more with the New Alcazar.
